“ICT’s for Disempowered / Marginalized Communities” ITU / TRC Assistance Project Opening of a Computer & Speech Training Centre and the provision of a FM Hearing System & ICT  equipment  - Wellassa Subaghya Special School, Monaragala –
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) in association with the International  Telecommunications Union (ITU) have been implementing a joint ICT development programme  for the benefit of disabled and handicapped  persons having special needs at ICT Centres  located at Universities,  Schools, Vocational Training Centers and Ranaviru Villages.

A new computer and speech training centre with facilities for a FM hearing system and ICT  equipment was opened at Wellassa Subagya Special School at Kumbukana in the Monaragala District  on 7th March 2010, under the patronage of Mr. Anusha Pelpita, Director-General of Telecommunications  Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), Mr. S. S. Sahabandu, President’s Counsel,  Member of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission(TRCSL), Mr. Jagath Ratnayaka,  Assistant Director (Policy) of TRCSL and Mr. Sarath C. Kaluarachchi,   Principal of Wellassa Subagya Special School.        (Sinhala)
