1. How can we find a misplaced mobile phone?

• Sri Lanka Police introduced a system in 2018 December to trace misplaced Mobile phones. Regional police stations will forward complaints lodged with them through ineed system.

 

2. What is the first step should be followed when your phone is misplaced?

• You will have to disconnect the SIM

 

3. Can I take the same number?

• Yes. You can get the same number from your Telephone company

 

4. If I don’t have the IMEI of the misplaced mobile phone what step should be followed?

• You can get it from your telephone company through a written request.

 

5. How can I find my lost Mobile phone?

There are two systems

• Lodge a complaint in the regional police station.

• Lodge a complaint through ineed system (www.ineed.police.lk)

 

6. I lodged my complaint in the regional police station. Do I need to visit TRCSL?

• No. You don’t need to visit TRCSL

 

7. I lodged my complaint through ineed system. Do I need to visit TRCSL or sent and document to TRCSL?

• No

 

8. How can I know the status of the complaint lodged with police?

• This can be done through creating a user account through www.police.lk

 

9. How can I recover my WhatsApp/ Imo / Viber/ accounts (used) with the misplaced Mobile phone?

• Disconnect the SIM of the misplaced mobile phone

• You can reactivate your WhatsApp/ Imo / Viber/ accounts using a new phone which will automatically cancel accounts in the lost mobile phone

 

10. I didn’t logout from the Facebook account in the lost mobile phone. Can I recover Facebook account in the lost Mobile phone?

• Yes. you have to log in to your Facebook account using a new device  and cancel other devices. Then you have to change the password
