There are different type of communication devices installed in the Aircraft stations and Aircraft Earth stations to ensure the safe movement of the Aircrafts by providing signals or messages relating to distress , urgency , safety of life and navigation etc.

Most of these communication devices operate on frequencies assigned for international use while individual frequency assignment are used only for ground handling purposes.

All these radio communication equipment on board or at stations must hold a valid licence to operate the such equipment.

Aircraft Station

All Sri Lankan registered Aircrafts must hold the valid. Aircraft station licence for the use of frequency and frequency emitting apparatus on board.

Aeronautical Mobile

All the Communication devices at Aircraft Ground Station must have the appropriate licence to operate such devces with the relevant frequencies.
