NIA-APT World Friends Korea IT Volunteers Program 2025

The “NIA–APT World Friends Korea IT Volunteers Program 2025” was successfully organized by the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education. 

This year’s program provided a valuable IT training opportunity for the students of Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya, Nugegoda which was selected by the NIA as the beneficiary school. A team of four Korean IT volunteers conducted in-person IT training sessions from 7th to 22nd August 2025 with the support of the Western Province Education Department.

Since 2011, TRCSL has partnered with the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) to coordinate and facilitate the deployment of more than 100 international IT volunteers across educational institutions in Sri Lanka. This International IT Volunteer Program is recognized as one of TRCSL’s key capacity building initiatives, aimed at enhancing ICT education for students and teachers in under-resourced schools and schools in underserved regions as well as educational institutions supporting students with special educational needs.
